Midterm

Midterm Report

In PE this year I've put in a good effort to be a good leader as well as learner. Every class I have been ready to participate in any activity we might be doing that day. I show this by coming to class with a positive attitude and and open mind. Furthermore, every class this semester I have come with proper gym strip.

Each class, I try to put in my best effort. I think that I accomplish this on days we have activities as a class and we can feed off of each other's energy and encouragement. I also think that when we do games or sports with teams, I am encouraged to push my limits even more so because I wanted to carry my own weight and not let my team, or myself down. I feel I sometimes struggle effort wise, ifI'm  having a bad day outside of class, but as well days when we do choice. Sometimes it is hard because I normally end up with some of my good friends, which can become a distraction.

I feel I contribute to our classes overall by my positive attitude and encouragement. I always try to have an optimistic attitude, even if we're doing fitness. I try to encourage others to push themselves, and regularly remind others to keep on going and try to boost their energy level, or confidence by telling them 'good job' or 'keep going, you've gone so far, you're almost there.' Additionally, I try to always be upbeat, because I know if  I'm negative about something, it can effect person around me and pull their energy down. Therefore, I try to bring everyone energy up. I feel I have a good interaction with most grade 8's and 9's in both classes. On the other hand, there are a few people I don't know or talk to much, or at all, and I'd like to change that. I do feel though that especially at the beginning of the year I was able to establish a relationship with some of the grade 8's in our class and make them feel more comfortable around the grade 9's. I can recall helping them out on the first few fitness days and beep tests and teaching them more about PE in high school.

Personally, I feel I do very well in my own fitness participation. I always work hard and give a lot of effort into the activity we are doing. Each run I set goals for myself, and for circuits I try to walk as little as possible. I don't give up easily, and I feel that I push myself out of my comfort zone regularly.  My favourite fitness activity would probably be the community run. I like being able to race my own time, as well as get out in the fresh air and have a new view.

My goals for next semester are pretty much just extending and adding to the ones I set for myself first semester. Firstly, I would like to get to know some of the quieter people in the class and be able to encourage and work out with them. I think if I can help with everyone being comfortable around each other, it will really enhance the enjoyment of the class for all of us. I want to continue to push myself and encourage others around me and always make sure I put in the most effort possible. On a personal fitness level, I would like to reach level 11 on the beep test, and accomplish under 20 minutes on the community run.

Leadership to me means that you take responsibility for your learning, as well as knowing how you are effecting others around you. Leadership is being able to try your hardest and accomplish your personal goals, but as well, leaders look out for others and are aware of their surroundings. Being a leader to me is being able to notice when someone is struggling, and going over and helping or boost their energy. A leader is also one who helps out setting up or taking down equipment, which is also an example of being aware of your surroundings and seeing what needs to be done or what you could help with.

The improvements I would like to make would be to improve my fitness each time it is tested. As well , if others are pulling me down, I don't want to give them the power to change my effort level. I will try to encourage, or bring up their effort but if someone simply cannot or doesn't want to be encouraged or try, I need to remove myself from the situation. On the other hand, I am proud for a lot of reasons. I have built a lot of strong friendships in the class, and there is a lot of us who encourage and promote each other and each other's strengths. I'm proud that how I've been able to encourage others to improve themselves. Furthermore, I'm proud of the leader I've felt myself becoming and I've reached almost all my goals that I set out plus I've improved a lot fitness wise since grade 8.

This semester in PE I feel I deserve an A.

Thanks for reading!

  1. What a great post. I especially like your last paragraph. You are pretty much on point with what I see from you. I am concerned that some of friends (at least I assume they are your friends... from other classes as well) are black holes for positive energy. They are nice enough (smiles and funny) but their effort, in activities and fitness is NOT good. You aren't like that but it can be exhausting always being the one encouraging others. Sometimes you need someone to cheer for you. PLease make sure you have people who feed your energy so you can give to others. Keep smiling and pushing through the feeling of discomfort in fitness and you will surely reach your goals. :)
